Author Bio
Born in Chennai, Kulpreet Yadav graduated from the prestigious Nowrosjee Wadia College in Pune. An avid reader and debater, he has also had the honour of representing Pune in several debating competitions.
Following in the footsteps of his father, who was in the Indian Air Force, Kulpreet too joined the defence services, working for two decades as a Commandant with the Indian Coast Guard and even being awarded the Director General’s Commendation for professionalism and dedication to the nation in 2007. As an officer, he completed his post-graduation in Journalism and Mass Communication from Amity University in 2004 and Management courses from IIM, Indore and IIM, Lucknow.
A prolific speaker, Kulpreet has been invited to deliver lectures at prestigious national and international institutions including Amity International School (MayurVihar, New Delhi), Ryan International School (Malad, Mumbai), French School (Embassy of France, New Delhi), Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok), Amity University (Noida), St. Gregorios School (Udaipur), IIT (New Delhi), Christian College (Chennai), Kamla Nehru College (New Delhi), Aurobindo College for Arts & Communications (New Delhi), KR Mangalam University (Gurgaon), IIT, BHU (Banaras), Sacred Heart Convent School (Sri Ganganagar), Columbia Foundation School (New Delhi), Jesus Mary Joseph School (New Delhi), St Marks Girls School (New Delhi), Delhi College of Arts & Commerce (New Delhi), KN Modi University (Niwai, Tonk), Ravenshaw University (Cuttack), The Arts House (Singapore), Jain Happy School (New Delhi), Care International School (Jaipur), Vivekananda School (New Delhi) etc.
He has also successfully conducted motivational lectures at global corporate brands including HCL, Infosys, IBM etc. In addition, he is a visiting faculty for Creative Writing at the Sri Aurobindo College of Arts and Communication (SACAC), New Delhi since 2014.
Kulpreet has won the Blogprint Contest 2007 for his travel writings apart from being shortlisted for the ‘DNA-Out of Print Short Fiction Contest’ in 2014 and 2016. An author of several notable books, one of his short fiction pieces has also won a Special Commendation in ‘The Best Short Writing in the World’ by Fleeting Books, UK, in 2011.
His first book series, the ANDY KARAN THRILLER SERIES encompassing books like Catching The Departed, The Girl Who Loved A Pirate, The Girl Who Loved A Spy have sold more than 10,000 copies till date and was also shortlisted by Hachette-DNA in their contest ‘Hunt for the Next Bestseller’.
His latest book, MURDER IN PAHARGANJ has been published by Bloomsbury India and been on the bestseller list across various bookstores such as Om and Crossword across the country. His next book, QUEENS OF CRIMEAVDHAAN: True Stories Of Crime That Shook India was published in 2019 by Penguin Random House and launched by Bollywood actor, JACKIE SHROFF. The book, a national bestseller, is currently in its 4th edition.
Kulpreet wrote two more fiction books, a romantic thriller, THE DAY SIMRAN DIED, published by Srishti Publications and a mature romance drama, THE LAST LOVE LETTER, published by Rupa Publications. Both the books dis extremely well and went on to become bestsellers.
To promote Indian literature and budding authors, Kulpreet also runs Open Road Review, an online journal of literature and culture, which has published more than three hundred writers so far. More details relating to the magazine can be found on www.openroadreview.com.
